Conegliano gets off to good start in Scudetto final, Milan knocked out

The Numia Vero Volley Milan managed to take a set in the first challenge of the Scudetto Final Series, but this was not enough to prevent Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano from winning Game 1. At the Palaverde in Villorba Orro and her teammates, despite some good cues, did not find the right continuity to counter the solidity of the hosts, giving in four sets (25-17, 24-26; 25-21; 25-13) to the Venetians.
An alternating performance for the Milanese who struggled to capitalize on moments of advantage. In the first set Milan started well with Egonu and Daalderop, but Conegliano grew at a distance, taking the lead with Gabi; the Panthers were thus able to stretch with authority and close the set 25-17. In the second fraction total balance until the final, with continuous overtakes; Milan was good at keeping up the intensity and winning the set in the advantages (26-24), bringing the match back to a tie. The third partial saw the Lombards start with the right pace, but the reaction of the hosts was not long in coming and after a point-to-point until the 20th, the Venetians placed the decisive break to win 25-21.
In the fourth set Conegliano put on a strong show, running away from the very first exchanges and taking advantage of Milan’s difficulties in reception; protagonist of the partial Zhu who, having risen to the top, signed the 25-13 ace that was then worth the 3-1 final. MVP of the evening Isabelle Haak, but for Milan the performance of Paola Egonu stands out, scoring 33 ground balls. The race towards the Scudetto continues and the next challenge will be in an exceptional setting: on Saturday, April 19 at 4:00 pm at the Unipol Forum in Assago, the two teams will do battle again, but this time in front of more than 12 thousand spectators for a new high-intensity event.
