Conference League 2024-2025: Fiorentina-Celje, the likely lineups
The Fiorentina are playing at home their chance to make it among the four Conference League semifinalists for the third year in a row: to do so, they must at least maintain their one-goal lead against Celje on Thursday night, which accrued thanks to a 2-1 win in the 2-1 first leg in Slovenia. Against the PrvaLiga’s fourth power the feat is within reach, but distractions must be avoided to limit the possibility of bitter surprises.
The period, from the point of view of results, is quite positive for the violets, who between the league and the Conference have collected six consecutive useful results, although the white-net draw with Parma disappointed fans expectations. Against Celje, Palladino will rely on Gudmundsson and Kean in attack, while on the right lane should be Folorunsho to give Dodò some breathing space.
On the other side, coach Albert Riera will rely on a 4-2-3-1 with Matko the main reference in attack, supported at the three-quarter level by Delaurier-Chaubert (scored in the first leg on a penalty), Seslar and Svetlin. The two-time Slovenian champion club is fresh off a 2-1 league win at Mura, in which Seslar himself scored the winning goal.
