It is not only the Italian public that is impatiently awaiting Jannik Sinner’s return to competition after the suspension agreed upon with Wada. In fact, even in France, anticipation is growing for the South Tyrolean champion, the announced star of the upcoming Roland Garros, which kicks off at the main draw level on May 25.

Sinner, meanwhile, has resumed training at the Monte Carlo Country Club, although his first days on the court have been affected by the bad weather that is affecting the Principality and the entire French Riviera these days. Alternatively, the world number 1 has chosen to keep fit indoors, in the gym, training with his staff.

In the meantime, preparations for Roland Garros are already in full swing, despite the fact that the ATP calendar first includes two major international tournaments such as Madrid and Rome. In fact, the organizers of the Paris event have already announced a special ceremony dedicated to Rafa Nadal, who triumphed 14 times in the French capital between 2005 and 2022.

The French capital is the home of Rafa Nadal.

Two other significant changes in the second slam of the season concern the prize money, which increases by 5.21 percent compared to last year to 56,352,000 euros, and the shifting of the men’s second semifinal, which, instead of not before 5:30 p.m. as set in 2024, will be played no earlier than 7 p.m., effectively becoming an almost entirely evening match.
