Lewis Hamilton confesses how everything has changed

Lewis Hamilton spoke not only about Formula 1 but also about fashion at the MET Gala, a fashion charity event held annually in New York City: “There are many ways to present yourself as a man, not just traditionally masculine”.
“Black men have always had to be more excellent than their white counterparts. As a boy, I would leave the house dressed one way and then change along the way into baggy, gaudy looks and spend the best nights of my life”.
“When I signed for F1, I was only allowed to dress in team uniforms and it was horrible. I didn’t feel comfortable and I couldn’t be myself. Eventually I had the courage to overcome these limitations and say, “I want to go on the track the way I want to”. Now I am here, you cannot get rid of me or change the way I dress. The resistance was huge, but when our sport saw the impact of my little catwalk, other riders did the same.”
