Marco Materazzi pushes Inter to another Triplete

Marco Materazzi spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport the day after the victory over Bayern Munich that sent Inter into the Champions League semifinals. “Triplete? We are so few steps away from making history, and the team’s desire to go all the way is so strong, that now anything is really possible. A special environment has been created, where everyone is rowing compactly in the same direction”.
“The season has been long, full of commitments, but this is the best time because it is the time of harvest. And also of the suffering, because the strength wanes and there is to suffer: you have to push and reason from game to game. It was right to celebrate, because being back in the semifinals, especially after eliminating a great team like Bayern, is a great achievement, but from now we need to think already about Sunday and the away match in Bologna. Woe to lower our guard”.
“What impressed me about Inter yesterday? The ability to read the moment. Kane’s goal could have sent anyone into a crisis, instead Inter remained very lucid and turned the result around in a few minutes. Psychologically it was a very heavy blow for Bayern: very little time passed between their lead and Inter’s comeback, the Germans found themselves as if overwhelmed by the Nerazzurri one-two. Which, on the other hand, did not happen to Inter. And mind you: the converse is also true for the first leg match, with Frattesi’s 2-1 coming shortly after Müller’s equalizer. This Inter team is always in control of the game”.
“If I have to be honest, I was more so before Inter-Bayern. Barcelona is a team full of talent, with incredible strikers, from Lewandowski to Lamine Yamal, capable of scoring so much against the big boys. But it is also a very young team. And I think Inter’s maturity and experience will help Inzaghi”.
