Andrea Vavassori in an interview with fanpage.it spoke about Jannik Sinner and his forced hiatus due to the Clostebol case: the Italian tennis player did not mince words in describing the circuit’s mood on the suspension of the world number one, who will return to the court in Rome after a 3-month stop.

“Tennis is a highly individualistic sport and everyone thinks for himself. It is ugly to say but if someone like Jannik is off the circuit others are fine with it, that is how it is. Many people have said things with that in mind”.

“I don&#8220t want to be controversial, I was just glad to be on his side and make my support felt. I think he has shown himself on many occasions to be a super positive person. And even toward us he made gestures that I was very pleased with”.

On the relationship with Sinner: “With Jannik I did not grow up together and from a personal point of view I cannot say that I am a close friend. I knew him well in Davis, but I have more of a friendly relationship with the people I grew up with. I have great respect for him and I think that is one of the most important things. He impressed me in Davis as an athlete and as a person, so he is a good example for the generations growing up in Italy”.
