In Stuttgart Jasmine Paolini beats Coco Gauff and flies to semifinals

In the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 on the German indoor clay court in Stuttgart, Jasmine Paolini, world number 6, convincingly beat US number 4 Coco Gauff with a score of 6-4 6-3, thus advancing to the semifinals.
Jasmine lost her serve in the first game of the match and Coco managed to hold the lead until 4-2 when the 29-year-old Tuscan from Bagni di Lucca strung together six consecutive games, the first four giving her the first set and the last two sending her ahead 2-0 in the second.
On 1-0 in the second set, however, the festival of breaks begins: there are no less than five consecutive ones, three of them in favor of Jasmine, who then finally holds serve going to 5-2 and shortly afterwards closes the match on the second ball after a little less than an hour and a half of play.
Jasmine will now face world No. 1 Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals, who was right 6-4 6-1 over Belgium’s Elise Metens. In the other semifinal, they will face Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova, 6-0 6-4 to Jessica Pegula of the United States, and Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko, 6-3 3-6 6-2 to Poland’s Iga Swiatek.
