Empoli and Venezia hurt each other, locking horns at 2-2 in an Easter challenge that does not solve the problems of either team’s tight search for salvation in Serie A. At the Castellani everything happens in the second half, with first the hosts and then the guests dreaming of a victory with potentially enormous weight. In the end, however, it ends in a draw that substantially displeases everyone.

The Castellani’s whirlwind of emotions opened on 5′ of the first half, with Radu good at repelling Sebastiano Esposito’s bolide from the distance. Venezia appears guarded, but is not out of the game: Zerbin and Busio build the counterattack of the possible lagoon advantage. Then Fazzini and Candé in turn came close to scoring for Empoli’Empoli. But in the final half Vasquez saves everything on Doumbia.

The seemingly deadlocked match unlocked in 59′ when Henderson took advantage of a Busio slight and gave Fazzini the ball for the Empoli lead. Colombo and Cacace come close to doubling, but Venezia has the merit of not getting out of the game. So at 68′ it equalized with Yeboah, thanks to a corner taken by Nicolussi Caviglia but especially to Vasquez’s butterfly exit.

The game seems to have completely changed, and not surprisingly at the 85’85’ comes a new lead, which this time is Venice’s: Busio redeems himself for the mistake of half an hour earlier and rebounds into the net a ball that Vasquez had rejected on Gytkjaer’s attempt. Even this time, however, it was not over, and already at the 87’87; Anjorin equalized for Empoli with a right-footed shot from the distance. The two teams remain paired in the standings, both -1 from Lecce and from the salvation zone. And Easter, which could prove sweet for one of the two opponents at Castellani, becomes bitter for everyone.
