Juventus wreck in Parma, Lazio, Fiorentina and Torino smile
Juventus beaten and knocked down in Parma, other big names smile. That was the summary of the late afternoon Serie A Wednesday, which experienced the recovery of the four matches postponed to Easter due to the passing of Pope Francis. The Bianconeri’s knockout was heavy, especially when put in relation to the away successes collected by their direct rivals in the Champions League race, Lazio and Fiorentina (at Marassi against Genoa and Cagliari, respectively). Also smiling is Torino, victorious at home over Udinese.
So it all goes wrong for Juventus, which at the Tardini also lost Dusan Vlahovic to a muscle injury after just one half (during which, moreover, had come a new disappointing performance by the Serbian center forward). Decisive for the final 1-0 result then turned out to be the goal for Parma by Mateo Pellegrino in the first-half recovery, with a splendid framing on an assist from Valeri. In vain were the Bianconeri attempts to equalize in the second half.
The Parma result drops Juventus to fifth place, -1 behind Bologna. Above all, however, the Bianconeri are joined on 59 points by a Lazio side that confirmed its form in the league by going on to win 2-0 on the field of Genoa. One goal per half for Marco Baroni’s biancocelesti: at 33′ Castellanos scored with a feat worthy of the Serie A sign, at 65′ Dia doubled with a touch of great precision on Rovella’s service. Otoa sent off early in the game and Belahyane with 20 minutes left.
Florentin also wins, now within -3 of the Juventus-Lazio pair after the important win in Cagliari: it ends 2-1, with Piccoli leading the hosts at 7′, the returning Gosens equalizing at 36′ making the most of Mandragora’s assist (the island defense was guilty) and Beltran signing the overtake at 48′ anticipating Zortea on Dodò’s initiative. On the other hand, Torino makes it 2-0 against Udinese: granata lead at 39′ thanks to Che Adams tap-in, doubling at 85’85; with Dembelé taking advantage of Solet and Okoye’s double topica.
