Matteo Arnaldi topples Borna Coric and gives himself Novak Djokovic in Madrid

The adventure of Matteo Arnaldi at the Madrid Masters 1000 continues. The Ligurian tennis player, in fact, overcame in a comeback, in his debut, Croatian Borna Coric with the score of 4-6 6-4 7-5, after almost three hours of play.

The first set was decided in the third game, where Coric was adept at snatching service at zero from his blue rival. After confirming the break, the Croatian is adept at not conceding any chances during his serve turns and closing the score at 6-4.

In the tenth game, however, comes Coric’s first blunder, as he squanders a 15-point lead, suffering two consecutive points that give the second set to Arnaldi with a score of 6-4.

In the third set, it is once again the Azure who is the first to find the stretch in the eighth game. The joy, however, is short-lived, as the Croatian immediately finds the counter-break. The Ligurian tennis player, for his part, does not give up and thanks to another partial break of two consecutive games makes the match his with the score of 7-5.

In the next round, Matteo Arnaldi will face the number four seeded Novak Djokovic.
