Michael Storer wins the Tour of the Alps

28-year-old Australian Michael Storer (Tudor), who had already won the second stage in Sterzing, won the Tour of the Alps at the end of the fifth and final stage, which started and finished in Lienz, an Austrian town in the Tyrol where a giant slalom and a women’s World Cup slalom are held in alternate years.
The stage win went to Frenchman Nicolas Prodhomme, who at 28 years old took his first professional victory ahead of 18-year-old compatriot and teammate Paul Seixas, who did not hold him back.
Third on the partial podium was German Emil Herzog, who finished about half a minute behind the leading pair. Second in the overall standings at the start of the stage, Storer pulled away with 38 kilometers to go from Dutchman Thymen Arensman (Ineos), who had been the leader since yesterday after his success in stage 4.
Storer, second in the Tour of the Alps 2022, finished the stage eighth, and in the final standings closes 1’33” ahead of Arensman and 4’07” ahead of Canadian Derek Gee. Fourth at 5’09” Giulio Ciccone, the first of the Italians.
