Fabio Quartararo in pole, "El Diablo" almost can’t believe it and makes a special dedication

It’came decidedly unexpected, in the eyes of most, Fabio Quartararo’s pole position in the Spanish Grand Prix of the MotoGp class, although already on Friday the signs, for “El Diablo” had been encouraging. The Yamaha rider put himself behind even Marc Marquez, always in pole position in the first four race weekends, who so far seemed unbeatable on the dry lap.
“Last year I was struggling to keep the’1:36, this year I did 1:35.6 – said an enthusiastic Quartararo to ‘Sky Sport‘ -. The step forward was incredible, although it must be said that this is a track where the engine counts less. We know that compared to other bikes there’s distance in terms of speed, but here in Jerez you feel much less”.
The 2021 world champion then wanted to make a special dedication: “I want to dedicate this pole position to my brother, today is his birthday and he came to see me. I also hope to do well in the Sprint Race and tomorrow’s race: the confidence level towards my bike is high, the grip is very good. We can do very well”.
A 1999 year-old, Quartararo also boasts a second-place finish in the 2022 MotoGp World Championship: after that season, however, he suffered Yamaha’s drop in performance against the competition, managing only partially, with four third places (three in the race and one in Sprint), to limit the damage in 2023 but finding himself in 2024 fighting for the runner-up positions, ending the season without ever getting on the podium, as he did not in 2017, back in his Moto2 days.
