Trapani beats Napoli and regains top spot, Cremona misses first salvation match point with Trieste

Two contests were played on Monday night of the 28th day of Serie A basketball. Trapani makes no mistake on the road in Naples and directs the’meeting already in the first half ended leading 57-39. In the resumption, after an ugly third period, the Repensa team manages to administer the advantage in the’last quarter winning the W with a final score of 95-77.
Failing the first salvation match point, instead, Vanoli Cremona, which was overwhelmed at home by Pallacanestro Trieste with a peremptory 101-81.
“I’m sorry for the last three minutes of the third quarter, where honestly we lost fluidity in offense, we missed everything, we were slow and ineffective and Napoli came back to -9. We know very well that we have to do much better, however, today the two points mattered and they came. Now we are moving forward. We have two big games ahead of us, first against Milan, then against Bologna, we will see with these emblazoned teams how we will be put” these are the statements made in the press conference by Trapani coach Jasmin Repesa.
“Playing against teams like Trapani, first in the standings, with the best offense in the league and with the best percentages in the league, is very difficult for us. Having said that, however, we have to limit the excuses, I did not like the team’s attitude for large stretches. The guys are doing a great job, but in these kinds of games, when things go wrong, you have to keep the right attitude, as our crowd did. If they had told us that with two days to go we had a 4-point lead over the next-to-last I would have signed, but it is not enough and therefore we have to make an extra effort and try to fight with weapons, starting with defense, even if this team does not have it in its DNA and talk less to the referees. This is what we owe us, our club and our public, which has always supported us. We care and we want to make this miracle, but the’attitude must be that of players who play until the’last breath” these are the words of GeVi Napoli coach Giorgio Valli.
“Congratulations to Cremona, their intensity in this season finale for us has been an inspiration. They have a way of playing together that is evidence of an excellent coaching job. We wanted to celebrate tonight with a great performance on having reached the playoffs. One of the things we want to focus on more is the ability to move the ball. We always say that each of us has to be a threat on the court, and the only way to be a threat is if the ball moves effectively from side to side. This is the best time of the year and we must continue to pray that we are all healthy, because that gives us the chiance to beat anyone in this league” these are the statements of Trieste Basketball head coach Jamion Christian.
“After a disastrous start we finally managed to sew up Trieste’s tear in the third quarter; then they made four consecutive triples in particular situations that I couldn’t even describe, we missed two and from there we disbanded. Kudos must be given to them for their excellent shooting percentages. We are left with the regret that after creating a chance to play the final, we were overwhelmed by their effectiveness. I stopped the game, but I didn’t know exactly what to say, as their shots came only from individual talent. Bravo to them also for triggering each other” these, finally, were the words of Vanoli Cremona head coach Gigi Brotto.
