Lobotka, future in the balance at Napoli? 25 million clause in the contract

Stanislav Lobotka’s future with the Napoli jersey may have reached a turning point. The Slovak midfielder, a key pivot of the Azzurri midfield both in the Spalletti era and under Antonio Conte, could say goodbye in the summer thanks to a special rescission clause inserted in his contract.
According to what has been revealed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, there is a clause in Lobotka’s contract that allows the player to free himself for an amount close to 25 million euros. A sum that is far from prohibitive when considering the tactical importance and international experience of the ’94 class. However, this option will only be valid during the upcoming summer soccer market session, after which it will automatically lapse.
This detail makes Napoli’s position particularly interesting, as they have to carefully evaluate possible offers and, at the same time, prepare for a possible farewell. Although no concrete or advanced negotiations are apparent at the moment, a number of clubs – especially from Saudi Arabia – have already sounded out the ground, inquiring about the details of the clause and the general conditions of the deal.
Lobotka was one of the key men in the Scudetto won by Napoli in 2023, thanks to his ability to dictate the timing of the game, retrieve balls and ensure balance in the team. His eventual departure would open a major technical and tactical void that the Neapolitan management will have to fill carefully.
It now remains to be seen whether any club will decide to take advantage of the clause, securing a top player at a low price. The summer of 2025 thus promises to be very hot on the Lobotka front.
