Torino coach Paolo Vanoli spoke in a press conference ahead of the match against Venezia scheduled for Friday, May 2 at 8:45 p.m. at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. After the defeat suffered against Napoli, the championship of the granata starts again, who will face Di Francesco’s team that is in absolute need of points.

The coach began in the press conference talking about the next opponent, “Venice? They have to save themselves and we need to know that. They play good soccer, despite being in the last positions, I congratulate Di Francesco. They are a team always in the game and they are very dangerous on set pieces. In the first leg it was a good period because we started on the right foot, then we changed a lot. Now we are in a second evolution. In the second half we improved a lot by changing the system of play. In this last period defections did not allow us to give continuity. We have to work on our mentality. We have to understand what others are looking for, as happened in Naples. What bothered me about Napoli is that we need to understand how matches should be approached. We know very well that we face Venezia and Lecce, who play everything to death. We have to know that and we have to think about showing our qualities.”

The coach of the granata then dwelt on some individuals: “Ricci we do not have him for this match, the tendinopathy still bothers him.Three defeats in 2025 without Ricci? I was thinking of giving him a minute and then taking him off…without taking anything away from the others we know of his importance. Linetty in Naples responded well. Tendinopathy requires finding the right loads for this final rush. Lazaro we do not have him due to disqualification, however Gineitis returns. Ilic and all the others are fine.

Vanoli then concluded the press conference by giving a thought to the Superga incident of May 4, 1949: “There must be motivation every day. One should not think about history only when there is May 4. For us to go to Superga is a duty more than a right. We have to honor a team that is more than unrepeatable for what they did, but also honor all the people who lost their lives in that accident. It must be a duty to remember them every time, for better or for worse.” Thus ends Paolo Vanoli’s press conference ahead of Venice.
