Italy, what a pity: the medal in the 4×100 mixed fades away

A medal fades for Italy in the men’s 4×100 mixed at the World Swimming Championships that closed Sunday Singapore. The quartet composed of Thomas Ceccon, Nicolò Martinenghi, Federico Burdisso and Carlos D’Ambrosio did not finish beyond fourth place after qualifying for the final with the third fastest time.
Ceccon turned in a great performance in the first 100 meters, and Martinenghi also managed to close in on the lead in his split. Then France and Russia came up again, overtaking Burdisso in the third fraction, and in the last 100 meters also came the final overtaking of the United States for third place.
The Russian quartet was the first to take the lead.
To the Russian quartet the gold medal with a time of 3:26.93, ahead of France, d’silver. Italy finished with a time of 3:28.72, just 10 hundredths away from the bronze medal won by the Americans.
