Splendid bronze for Benedetta Pilato: fifth World Championship on the podium

Benedetta Pilato does not get off the podium: the Italian swimmer won the bronze medal in the 50 breaststroke at the World Championships in Singapore by posting a time of 30″14. L’Azzurra came in behind Lithuania″s Ruta Meilutyte, first in 29″55, and China″s Tang Qianting, silver medalist with a time of 30″03. Fourth place for the’other Italian Anita Bottazzo at 30″21.

It’s the fifth consecutive medal in the specialty at the World level for Benedetta Pilato, who won silver in Gwangju and Budapest, and bronze in Fukuoka and Doha last year.
“Reconfirming is never easy, and this is my fifth medal in the 50 and it is worth so much this year. It really means a lot to me with all the difficulties I have had over the years, I am still here competitive and I always try. This consistency is the fruit of a lot of hard work. It was the icing on a cake that wasn’t there this year”.
