Great fear for Troy Bayliss: the three-time World Superbike champion ended up in the hospital after a serious motorcycle accident. The Australian centaur, for years a Ducati rider, was the victim of a bad fall last Sunday, on an unspecified track. On social media, the 56-year-old rider recounted his physical condition: “I took a short ride in the’ambulance on Sunday…”

“Thanks to those who saw me on the ground on the track. I have seven broken ribs, a punctured lung and a fractured collarbone” he wrote on Instagram to accompany a photo of him lying in the hospital with a number of abrasions on his hips and back.

“Thanks a lot to the people who saw me taking a nap on the track, now I’m a little banged up”. Bayliss was back on the bike just a few weeks ago after a previous ankle injury. The dynamics of the’accident are not known, nor is the motorcycle on which he fell.

Bayliss was World Superbike champion in 2001, 2006 and 2008, always riding a Ducati. He has won 52 career Superbike races and has been a guest at Valentino Rossi&#8217s Ranch several times.
