Sofia Goggia begins long run to Milan-Cortina: first dates defined

Just a little less than a month more of a break for Sofia Goggia, before she resumes training on the snow and begins, officially, the long run to the Olympic Games in Milan Cortina, which will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026. As disclosed by Fisi, the Bergamo-born champion will resume her skiing activities in South America, starting Sept. 1.
Goggia will initially be busy on the snows of Ushuaia, Argentina, before moving to Chile, in La Parva, from the middle of the month until October 4. The Bergamasque will also cross paths with Marta Bassino, Roberta Melesi, Asja Zenere and Ilaria Ghisalberti in Ushuaia in early September, while from the 6th to mid-month she will find, also in Argentina, Laura Pirovano, Elena Curtoni and the Delago sisters, Nadia and Nicol.
Sofia Goggia arrives from a season, from a certain point of view, of transition, given the serious injury that struck her in the spring of 2024: however, she won two victories, in Beaver Creek in Super-G and Cortina in downhill, finishing third overall behind Federica Brignone and Lara Gut-Behrami. At the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, however, she had to settle for fifth place in Super-G.
At the Olympic Games, Sofia Goggia boasts two medals, one gold and one silver. The most precious metal came in 2018 in Pyeongchang in the downhill race, while the second step of the podium was reached four years later in Beijing, once again in the downhill, on this occasion surpassed by just 16 hundredths by Switzerland’s Corinne Suter.
