Torino closes the deal from Napoli: Giovanni Simeone official

Now it is official: Giovanni Simeone is a new Torino player. Announcing the Argentine striker&#8217s arrival on an onerous loan with mandatory redemption from Napoli was the Granata club itself through a statement published on its official website.

Simeone, who signed a contract until June 30, 2028, with an option for the following season, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on July 5, 1995. He grew up footballingly in the youth ranks of River Plate, where he played in the first team for two seasons and won a league, a Copa Sudamericana and a Copa Libertadores. In summer 2015 he was traded to Banfield, where he netted 12 goals in 36 games.

In 2016 he landed in Italy, at Genoa: in his first season he recorded 36 appearances topped by 13 goals and 2 assists. The following year, after playing one more match in the Coppa Italia in a red and blue shirt, he was signed by Fiorentina: in Tuscany he collected 80 appearances, scored 22 goals and served 8 assists. He later wore the shirts of Cagliari (72 games, 18 goals and 6 assists) and Verona (35 appearances, 17 goals and 6 assists).

In August 2022 he was bought by Napoli: with the partenopei Simeone made his debut in the Champions League – scoring an immediate goal in the 4-1 win over Liverpool – and won two Scudetti, in 2023 and 2025.

For him, who won the South American Championship with the Under-20 National Team in 2015, turning out to be the competition’s top scorer, also six games and one goal with Argentina.
