Fabio Fognini on the sidelines of an event in Bisceglie spoke about his immediate post-career, after the’announcement of his retirement following the match against Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon: “Since I decided to retire I have not picked up a tennis racket, and I have seen very little of the Wimbledon match against Alcaraz”.

“I have not been fortunate enough to see myself again – he confessed -, being very self-critical with myself. I haven”t seen myself yet, I haven”t made it” are the statements reported by Tennis World Italia.

Fognini emphasized the’importance that Jannik Sinner is having for the whole movement: “We have the opportunity to rejoice for a champion, who is the number one in the world, who is opening up so many avenues to play the sport and is bringing so many children”.

Just referring to the very young people who are approaching the sport, Fognini wanted to be immediately clear: “I always tell the children that the most important thing is to have fun. If there really is a chance to do this as a profession, it will take a lot of sacrifice and patience. Sports is life but it also requires a lot. I was lucky enough to have had a mother and father who supported me”.
