Former coach warns Jannik Sinner: there's a big danger

Riccardo Piatti is among the people who know Jannik Sinner best: he coached him from 2014 to 2022 at his academy in Bordighera and witnessed the San Candido outfielder’s rise. Through the columns of La Stampa, he wanted to send a warning precisely to Jannik Sinner.
“Carlos Alcaraz must aim for the Us Open: if he makes it, it will be difficult for Jannik to finish the year as No. 1. After Wimbledon the strongest make the first report, they start thinking about the Atp Finals. The problem of qualifying for Turin they’ve solved. They have two others left: winning the Us Open and finishing the season as No. 1. Alcaraz was in no hurry and did well, because the one chasing now is Sinner. For them, points and money matter relatively. Winning, winning and more winning matters. The rest comes accordingly”.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner: two very different champions on and off the court, as Piatti also confirmed: “They have two styles, two very different personalities. That’s perfectly fine: think if we had had two Nadals instead of one Nadal and one Federer. They both know how the world works, there are fans who always want one to win and others who enjoy it when the strongest one falls. It’s sports”.
“Jannik in the last year has taken a huge step forward. He is now very competitive even on clay and he has realized that in the next 6 or 7 years he will have a chance to make the Grand Slam. I’ve always thought so” concluded Jannik Sinner’s former coach.
