Giampaolo Ricci, touching words about Achille Polonara

Giampaolo Ricci in Corriere dello Sport spoke about his new commitment to the Coni Council in which he was included in the athletes’ quota: “So many different roles? Maybe because I am getting older”.

“Leaving aside the jokes I think I am reaping what years of hard work and application have allowed me to build. That is what I tell in the book, also to give a message to younger people: if you believe in it, what may seem like complicated goals can be achieved”.

“Datome said in a recent interview that so many times in recent years we have bumped our heads against quarters. He is right. We would like to finally climb over this wall and go beyond it. But before thinking about the quarters, to be won there will be a very tough round in Limassol and then we will try to go further and further. We are convinced of our means”.

Closing remarks on Achille Polonara: “I get a thrill every time I think of him. He is a lion and always gives us crazy energy. He is about to start his second round of chemotherapy. We would also like him beside us to cheer for that blue jersey that he, like all of us, feels like a second skin”.
