When Jannik Sinner is playing today in Cincinnati: background with Daniel Elahi Galan

A little less than a month after winning the Wimbledon tournament by beating Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in the final played on July 13, Jannik Sinner finally returns to the court and will do so, after missing the one in Toronto, in the Masters 1000 on the concrete courts of Cincinnati.
In what is a true prologue to the U.S. Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year, Sinner, who is the defending champion of the tournament, had a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed, and in the second round he will face 29-year-old Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan, world No. 134.
Galan in the first round beat Czech Vit Kopriva fairly cleanly with a score of 6-2 6-4. The challenge with the South Tyrolean outfielder from Sesto Pusteria will be played on Saturday, August 9, no earlier than 9 p.m. (Italian time): it will be the third match on center court. The match can be followed on TV on Sky and NOW.
Sinner and Galan have faced each other twice so far, and Jannik has always won: 7-5 6-0 in the group stage of the 2021 Davis Cup finals in Madrid and 7-6 6-4 6-3 in the round of 16 at Wimbledon in 2023.
