Ducati: Dall'Igna is candid about Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia

Ducati’s general manager Gigi Dall’Igna in an interview with MotoSprint spoke about Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, and their internal duel in the Ducati team. “I admit it: this is the most stellar Ducati team ever, configured by two talents such as Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia. I myself called us a ‘Dream Team,’ remember”.
.
Marc Marquez is dominating, however, while Bagnaia is trudging along in third place: “The balance? If I called myself satisfied, I would be lying. In this sport you are never satisfied, perhaps not even when you have achieved your goals. From here to the end of the world championship there is still a long way to go, however, I can answer: we started very well with one part of the team, while the other part of the team is perfectible, although the results compared to last season tell of interesting improvements highlighted. We are working to give both of our riders the best possible chances”.
“If I could win the World Championship this year with Marquez, and next year with Pecco? I would accept right away, regardless of the chronological order. As I always explain, the two names boast of the same attention and technical package”.
The two drivers do not help each other on the track: “No coincidence, it is normal. Unless there are special situations, hardly two teammates help each other. If one holds the first position and the other the second, perhaps, a strategy of helping is contemplated. But if both are starting at par, thinking of winning the world championship, it is complicated to hope to see mutual aid”.
“Have we complicated our lives? I don’t have to set up easy things. I have to try to make Ducati win the world championship, a difficult goal to achieve. I have to do whatever it takes to the satisfaction of the goal, getting to the finish line. To get there, I do everything useful to the cause”.
