Luca Nardi puts Carlos Alcaraz in his sights

Luca Nardi does not stop at the Cincinnati Masters 1000. The Marche player, re-selected to the draw as a lucky loser, also beats Denis Shapovalov, number 24 in the seeding and 30 in the ATP ranking, with a final score of 6-7 6-3 6-4 after nearly two and a half hours of struggle.
Nardi started off strong getting the break lead as early as the third game. At the moment of closing the partial, on 5-4, the Blue, however, suffers the counter-break: so it comes to the tie-break, where the Canadian wins by 7 points to 5.
The Canadian is the winner.
In the second set Nardi again goes ahead by a break in the fourth game and this time keeps it until the final 6-3 with which he evens the set score. In the third set, too, the Pesaro player only needs a break, obtained in the third game, to close out the match.
Nardi thus qualifies for the third round of the ‘Cincinnati Open‘ where he will face Czech Jakub Mensik. L’Azzurro wants to continue to impress and hopes to treat himself to the round of 16, where he could face Carlos Alcaraz, who is engaged with Hamad Medjedovic in the third round.
