Israel Gonzalez, the new coach of Pallacanestro Trieste, made his first statements to the white-and-red club: “What attracted me most about Trieste is the club&#8217s clear desire to do things the right way, the ambition of the project and the desire to constantly grow. For me, the key to everything is just that: learning and improving every day”.

“I closely watched the team last season– added the Spanish coach -: I saw a fast basketball, made of transitions, three-point shots and a great aggressiveness in offensive rebounding. These are the same principles on which my work at ALBA Berlin was based, and that is why I believe my philosophy of play fits perfectly with the identity that this club has already shown it has. This will be our base, and then we will develop it into the best possible form”.

“I have heard a lot and good things about the fans in Trieste. I know that they are a fundamental component of this club, a warm audience that knows basketball very well and never fails to support us. This passion gives us responsibility: we will have to give our best because they expect and deserve it”.

“Being able to count on a core of players who already know each other is an important advantage. Our starting point must be the’excellent work done in past seasons by those who came before me, such as Coach Christian, with the goal of continuing on that path and then doing even better”.

On the season goal: “The’main goal we set for ourselves is to finish the season being a significantly better team than how we started. Our path will be focused on growth, daily improvement and a willingness to show everyone the progress we”ll make.

“I have had long and fruitful talks with President Matiasic and GM Arcieri, from which emerged boundless passion for the sport, great ambition and determination to achieve excellence. I am happy to be here because I feel I have come to the right place. I believe I am the ideal profile for this team and, likewise, that this team is perfect for me. Therefore, accepting the proposal from Trieste was an easy and natural” Gonzalez concluded.
