Jannik Sinner beats Mannarino and the rain: he’s in the quarters in Cincinnati

Jannik Sinner stronger even than the rain. The world and seeded number one overcame in two sets Adrian Mannarino, number 89 in the ATP rankings, with a final score of 6-4 7-6 and flew to the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000.
Sinner gets off to a strong start and snatches the serve from Mannarino as early as the third game at the third good opportunity. The Blue is flawless on serve and preserves the break lead until the final 6-4 with which he cashes the first partial after 43 minutes of play.
At the beginning of the second set, rain poured down on the ‘P&G Center Court’ of the ‘Lindner Family Tennis Center’ in Mason: the chair judge was forced to interrupt the match at the score of 2-1 for the Frenchman and with Sinner, serving, ahead 40-30 in the fourth game.
At the resumption of play, after nearly three hours of stoppage time, Sinner hurled an ace and made it 2-2. The Alto Adige outfielder places the break in the’11th game but, called upon to serve for the match, is reeled back in by the transalpine at 6-6. The tie-break was played point-to-point but Sinner needed only a mini-break to close out the match (7-4) and fly to the quarters of the ‘Cincinnati Open‘.
