From surprise to redundancy, in just twelve months: the parable of Samuel Mbangula at Juventus can be summarized in this way, and even if from the Belgian‘s words to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ no rancor shines through there’is still regret for not being able to convince the current Bianconeri coach, Igor Tudor, to believe in him even in the season that is about to begin.

Mbangula made his debut in his new jersey, that of Werder Bremen, in last August 9’s friendly against Udinese, which he lost 2-1. “During the World Cup in America we talked about the matter – explained the player to the ‘rosea’, specifying the reasons behind the farewell -. I pointed out to Tudor that, in order to play, I would be willing to act as a flanker, trequartista and even as a halfback in his 3-4-2-1. He was blunt, telling me that I did not fit into the plans. He did not ‘see me’just”.

The 21-year-old, by his own admission, would have stayed at Juventus: “Football is like that. The club made a clear speech to me: ‘We are sorry, but we have to make cash and we are obliged to sell you'” admitted Mbangula himself, who, however, explained that he had no negative feelings and, on the contrary, wished his former club the best of success.

Joined to Juventus from Anderlecht in the summer of 2020, Samuel Mbangula completed the youth ranks with the Bianconeri before making his debut in the Next Gen, the Under 23 committed to Serie C, in the 2023-2024 season. The following year, with Thiago Motta on the bench, he carved out an important space, which was greatly reduced by Tudor’s arrival in March, until his transfer a few weeks ago.
