Elena Rybakina goes wild: Aryna Sabalenka overwhelmed

Elena Rybakina came back big and beat Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000. The Kazakhstan-based tennis player, winner of Wimbledon in 2022, took a surprise two-set victory over the world number one and at the end of a scintillating performance that ended with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
Rybakina, in her fourth win in 11 previous matches with the Belarusian tennis player, will face Poland’s Iga Swiatek in the semifinals.
Tough moment for Aryna Sabalenka, a negative protagonist with many free errors: the Belarusian, defending champion in Cincinnati, gives up important points and risks soon losing the number one position in the WTA rankings after a very disappointing 2025 so far.
