Italbasket, Gallinari reaches the rally. And Pozzecco announces a'exclusion

Danilo Gallinari is preparing to live his last summer with the Italbasket’Italbasket. The newly crowned Puerto Rico champion (as MVP) with the Vaqueros de Bayamon, has joined the national team at Acqua Acetosa in Rome and as early as Tuesday, Aug. 19, he will be available to the coaching staff.

Those who left the gathering, however, is Luca Severini, as announced by head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco: “I sincerely thank Luca for his usual commitment and for the enthusiasm and seriousness he has put into every single training session since July 23. As always this is the most complicated time for me and I wish I never had to face these choices. I wish him the best for the season. He is an integral part of this wonderful group even if he will not be physically with us at the European Championship”.

77 appearances and 1096 points in the national team (24th best scorer ever), for the Rooster this will be his fourth European Championship after the 2011, 2013 and 2015 editions. For him also the 2021 Olympic Games and the 2019 World Cup. At EuroBasket 2025 he will be vice-captain.

Coach Gianmarco Pozzecco’s boys are training at the Olympic Preparation Center in the Capital awaiting games, Aug. 20, for Athens, site of this summer’s last two friendlies against Latvia (Aug. 21, 7:15 p.m. Italian) and Greece (Aug. 22, 7:15 p.m. Italian). Both games live on Sky Sport Basket (channel 209), Now, and Courtside 1891 FIBA.
