Jannik Sinner: Andy Roddick mocks Carlos Alcaraz’s gesture

L’former world number one Andy Roddick at the microphones of his podcast commented on the short Cincinnati final, which was closed early at the end of the first set due to Jannik Sinner’s physical problems. The American appreciated Carlos Alcaraz’s post-match gesture, but then joked: “Carlos made only one mistake: he approached Jannik!”.
“If someone retires and is sick, you stay as far away from them as possible! Carlos’ only mistake all week was that he approached Sinner when you suspect he is not at his best. Obviously I liked his gesture, but if I had been his coach I would have told him ‘stay away from him!’”.
Roddick criticized the’organization of the Cincinnati tournament: “It is not the best to organize the final at 3 p.m. on a Monday, in fact I think it is the worst time for a final”.
“The favorites for the U.S. Open remain Sinner and Alcaraz, but now we’re a little worried that Jannik might be sick”. L’Azzurro will take a couple of days off before resuming training in Flushing Meadows.
