Jannik Sinner watch out: Carlos Alcaraz prepares to overtake. Combinations to stay No. 1

With victory in the Cincinnati Masters 1000 Carlos Alcaraz moved even closer to Jannik Sinner in the ATP ranking. L’Azzurro still commands the world rankings – for the 63rd consecutive seventh – with 11480 points against the Spaniard╶.
However, the Murcian has never been closer to the South Tyrolean: Alcaraz will in fact defend only 50 points at the Us Open, while Sinner, defending champion at Flushing Meadows, will have to discard 2,000. At this point the distance between the two will be only 50 points before the New York Slam.
Sinner remains world number one if:
.
– wins the Us Open
– gets one round ahead of Alcaraz (ex: Sinner loses in the final, Alcaraz goes out in the semifinals, Sinner eliminated in the semifinals, Alcaraz out in the quarters etc…)
In contrast, Alcaraz will only need to match Sinner’s result at the Us Open to return to the top of the world rankings. The five-time Slam champion became world number one after winning the Us Open in 2022 and remained there for 36 weeks in total.
