Italy, sharp defeat against Latvia in Acropolis tournament

The Italian national basketball team was beaten by Latvia in the match valid for the Acropolis tournament, played at the OAKA in Athens, Greece. This was the first defeat this summer for the Azzurri, who are preparing for the European Championships.
Gianmarco Pozzecco’s team succumbed sharply 83-68 against the Latvians led by Luca Banchi, who stretched in the third quarter taking advantage of ours’ offensive sterility. Danilo Gallinari was rested and did not take the court, Italy’s top scorers were Spagnolo with 17 points and Diouf with 14.
Italy will also take the court on Friday against host Greece.
