Nick Kyrgios’ ordeal continues. After withdrawing from the mixed doubles tournament in which he was entered along with Naomi Osaka, the quirky Australian has officially called himself out of the U.S. Open within hours of the men’s singles main draw.

The 2022 Wimbledon finalist had signed up due to his protected ranking and had announced his big comeback at the last Slam of the year.

Still injured, Kyrgios has played only one match (in doubles with Gaël Monfils at the ATP 250 Washington) since last March. In the past three seasons, the former boyfriend of Anna Kalinskaya, has played only six matches, with only one win.

It cannot be ruled out that Nick may find a gig as a commentator for the tournament that will feature Jannik Sinner – who as known he does not particularly like – and Carlos Alcaraz.
