Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori confirm themselves as champions at the Us Open

Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori were confirmed champions in the Us Open mixed doubles tournament. A year after their success in a traditional event, the two Azzurri granted an encore in the new format.
In Flushing Meadows, the organizers moved everything before the start of the singles to try to convince the big boys to participate.
In the end, however, the final result was the same, and not only because of the absence of Jannik Sinner, who was forced to forfeit after a virus cost him the Cincinnati final against Carlos Alcaraz.
Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori in the finals beat 6-3 5-7 10-6 Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud. In the semifinals they had defeated 4-2 4-2 Americans Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison.
“In these two years we have done something extraordinary. In men’s doubles I did great things with Simone Bolelli, but playing with you is exceptional – Vavassori’s first warm words directed to his partner -. Thanks to our whole team, to those who have been cheering for us, here and in front of the TV. It’s important for doubles to have more visibility in the future as well, we had some with this event, it”.
“Andrea, you are too strong – Errani’s response -. I have a lot of fun with you, sharing these moments for you is special. Thanks also to the whole team, having your support is special. It’s amazing to play all you fans, thank you for staying late, and to all the Italians who cheered for us”.
