Anna Kalinskaya smiles at US Open after big scare

Anna Kalinskaya won in the first round of the U.S. Open: the Russian tennis player beat U.S. wild card Clervie Ngounoue in three sets after a thriller match with the scores of 6-0, 5-7, 6-4.
The’former girlfriend of Jannik Sinner overwhelmed the world number 178 in the first set with a peremptory 6-0, but then fell apart in the second, getting broken twice and losing 7-5.
In the third partial after a heart-stopping break-counterbreak, the Russian found her tennis again in the last games, winning the decisive break in the ninth game. In the second round she will face Putintseva.
Anna Kalinskaya at the U.S. Open has never gone beyond the third round: her goal is to improve on the result achieved in 2024.
