Jannik Sinner is preparing for his US Open debut: the Italian tennis player, undefeated on concrete in Grand Slam tournaments by 21 matches, will make his debut against Czech Vit Kopriva. The world number one, back from the virus that stranded him in the Cincinnati final against rival Carlos Alcaraz, has fully recovered and is ready to lay down his law on fast courts.

Kopriva, current world number 88, is making his absolute debut in the main draw of the US Open. The Czech has never crossed paths with Sinner in the past. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 26, and will be the second in the morning session after the one between tennis players Arango and Swiatek, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Italian time. The San Candido champion will take the court no earlier than 6:40 p.m. Italian time.

In the meantime, the Blue continues his training program expeditiously. The South Tyrolean in the press conference was very charged but also guarded: “Here it matters a lot whether you play day or night. There are so many little details that make this Slam different. For example, we sleep in the city and it takes an’hour to get there. These are small things, but if you don”t handle them well, it becomes difficult to play at the highest level”.

On his condition: “Physically I feel good. I had a virus in Cincinnati that other players had as well. I have recovered almost completely, not yet at 100 percent, but we aim to get there in a couple of days”.
