When Flavio Cobolli plays at the U.S. Open: background with Jenson Brooksby

Flavio Cobolli, world number 26, will play his US Open men’s singles second-round match against world number 92, the American Jenson Brooksby.

A month ago Cobolli reached his best ranking, 17, and this year he won his first two tournaments on the major circuit, in Bucharest and Hamburg, also on clay.

Brooksby, on the other hand, a 24-year-old Sacramento-born Californian, was No. 33 three years ago and has won only one tournament, also this year, on clay in Houston.

There is only one previous match between the 23-year-old from Florence and Brooksby and the latter won it in 2022, 6-3 6-4 on the clay of the Foro Italico in Rome. Cobolli and Brooksby will play their second match tomorrow on court number 17, so certainly not before 6:30 p.m. Italian time.
