Raúl Albiol could return to Italy. The newly promoted Tuscan club, which won a valuable point in Bergamo with Atalanta on Sunday, is banking on his experience to strengthen the defense and is negotiating in these hours the signing of the former Napoli man, for whom a one-year contract with an option is ready.

After a brilliant first part of his career in Spain with Valencia and Real Madrid, Albiol was from 2013 to 2019 a pillar of Napoli’s back pack, with whom he won two Italian Cups and an Italian Super Cup, forming a solid defensive pair with Kalidou Koulibaly.

He later returned to his homeland wearing the Villarreal jersey, with which he lifted the Europa League in 2021.

With the Spanish national team he collected more than 50 appearances, being part of the golden cycle that won the 2008 and 2012 European Championships and the 2010 World Cup.

Albiol, who will turn 40 on Sept. 4, is currently untied.
