Lando Norris takes FP2 in Netherlands, Ferrari still behind

Formula 1 restarts from Zandvoort after the summer break, but Ferrari seems to have picked up where it left off. Friday’s free practice ahead of the Grand Prix d’Holland in fact ends with the Reds chasing the various rivals, at the end of FP2 led by the usual McLaren (this time that of Lando Norris). In fact, Lewis Hamilton finished sixth and Charles Leclerc only eighth, both also beaten by Oscar Piastri, George Russell, Max Verstappen and surprise Fernando Alonso.
Norris in fact proved to be the fastest driver of the session, stopping the stopwatches on a time of 1:09.890. Behind him was teammate Piastri, beaten by just 89 thousandths. Between the two was Alonso’s excellent Aston Martin, which was two thousandths ahead of the McLaren’s Australian. At just under four tenths here is the Mercedes of George Russell fourth, at almost six Max Verstappen in his Red Bull.
Only at this point does the first Ferrari appear, and it is precisely the gaps that are frightening. In fact, Lewis Hamilton lost almost nine tenths to Norris while finishing sixth. Leclerc, eighth and also preceded by Yuki Tsunoda, is close to the second gap. Excellent ninth position for Franco Colapinto, so far decidedly opaque in Alpine, disappointing twelfth place for Andrea Kimi Antonelli (author, moreover, of an’excursion on the gravel in the morning).
