F1: Max Verstappen takes pole at Monza, second row for Charles Leclerc

It will be Max Verstappen, on Red Bull, who will start ahead of everyone in the 2025 edition of the Grand Prix d’Italia, which will take place tomorrow starting at 3 p.m. at the Monza circuit. The Dutchman set the best time in the decisive Q3 by stopping the clock at’1:18.792, just 77 thousandths better than Lando Norris (McLaren), who will start from the second position.

On the second row is Oscar Piastri, on the’other McLaren, in third place (+0.190 over Verstappen) while Charles Leclerc set the fourth fastest time, 215 thousandths slower than on pole, thus placing the number 16 Ferrari in fourth. Fifth place for Lewis Hamilton, who, however, will be forced to start tenth because of the penalty imposed on him after the Dutch GP.

The third row will then feature the two Mercedes, with George Russell starting ahead of Kimi Antonelli. Seventh and eighth on the grid will be Gabriel Bortoleto (Kick Sauber) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), while Hamilton will start from the tenth box next to the Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda, who climbs to ninth after Saturday’s qualifying.

Eliminated in Q2 are Ollie Bearman (Haas), Nico Hulkenberg (Kick Sauber), Carlos Sainz (Williams), Alex Albon (Williams) and Esteban Ocon (Haas), who will occupy grid positions 11 through 15. From 16th place down are those eliminated in Q1: these are Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), Franco Colapinto (Alpine), Pierre Gasly (Alpine) and Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls).
