The weekend of the Grand Prix d’Italia makes the fans of the Bel Paese dream not only for what happens in Formula 1, but also for the results in the races of the minor series: in this sense, Italian motorsport can celebrate the splendid victory of Leonardo Fornaroli in race-1 of the event in Monza reserved for Formula 2 cars.

The 20-year-old native of Piacenza drove the No. 1 Invicta Racing car to the finish line first, putting behind him Arvid Lindblad (Campos), who came in at 1″6, and Joshua Dürksen (AIX), who was just over ten seconds behind. The’other Italian in the race, Gabriele Minì of Prema Racing, instead finished the race in seventh position.

Taking advantage of today&#8217s fourth-place finish by Dutchman Richard Verschoor, driver of MP Motorsport, Fornaroli strengthened his lead at the top of the F2 World Championship standings, with 164 total points, 24 more than Verschoor&#8217s 140. Invicta Racing leads the team standings with 245 points, ahead of Campos Racing’s 198.

A class of 2004, Leonardo Fornaroli is facing his first season in Formula 2, after winning the third-level series, Formula 3, in 2024: a particular success, which came thanks to being consistently in the top positions in every race, albeit without success in individual races. This year, however, Fornaroli has already achieved success (always in race-1) at Silverstone and Spa, as well as at Monza.
