On the field for 71 minutes in the World Cup qualifying match won by’Italy over Estonia, Matteo Politano was one of the most appreciated Azzurri on the evening in Bergamo, beyond the assist provided to Giacomo Raspadori for the third goal of the team coached by Gennaro Gattuso. The aftermath of the fine evening with the national team was followed by an announcement on the future of Politano himself by his agent, Mario Giuffredi.

“We are talking with Napoli about renewing him and extending him until 2028 – explained the 1993-born player’s intermediary. We have been working on this for quite some time’ and Matteo would like to close his career as late as possible but close it here at Napoli. He is 32 years old, not old, and if you have had a flawless private life today you can perform up to 37/38 years old. The age has little to do with the ability to perform at a high level. We hope to announce the renewal in the next two weeks”.

“Matteo at Inter with Conte had had little space – said Giuffredi speaking further about his client -, but the fact that he is now a protagonist shows that the Napoli coach gives merit to the effort. And this must be a spur for all players, Politano has the confidence of Conte because he has always been committed and has shown spirit of sacrifice”.

“These aspects are highly recognized by the coach’s side. Tactically Politano is the needle of the scales, and this is because mentally he is always ready to execute certain situations that the coach asks of him and this also allows Conte to change form” concluded Politano’s attorney, who thus counts on extending the relationship with Napoli that began inJanuary 2020.
