It came on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a few kilometers from his home, the fifteenth consecutive seasonal success, between Sprint and long races on Sunday, for Marc Marquez. For the rider of the official Ducati team, now increasingly at the top of the world standings, it was not a walk in the park, on the contrary: the success, in fact, matured only in the final, after the fall of his brother Alex. The victory allows Ducati to secure the Constructors’ World Championship with ample advance, for the sixth consecutive year.

Starting from the pole position, Alex Marquez was in fact leading the race with authority riding the Gesmosedici GP-24 of the Gresini Racing team, but the crash with two laps to go handed the victory to his older brother, who crossed the finish line first with 1″299 advantage over Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and 3″653 over Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati VR46).

Closing in points, from fourth to ninth place, were Pedro Acosta (KTM), Enea Bastianini (KTM Tech3), Brad Binder (KTM), Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR), Luca Marini (Honda) and Ai Ogura (Aprilia Trackhouse). Pecco Bagnaia‘s crisis continues: starting 21st, the’other official Ducati team rider finished in 14th position, never in the thick of the action.

In addition to Alex Marquez, all three of the official Aprilia riders, Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin and Lorenzo Savadori, as well as Fermin Aldeguer (Ducati Gresini) and Franco Morbidelli (Ducati VR46) also retired. In the championship standings, Marc Marquez rises to 467 points, compared to Alex Marquez’s 280 and Pecco Bagnaia’s 228. The title now seems ever closer for the number 93.
