Lewis Hamilton at Monza did not go beyond sixth place in his first Italian Grand Prix as a Ferrari driver. Yet the seven-time world champion’s balance sheet is anything but negative, not only because of the mini comeback centered by the tenth place on the grid the result of the penalty he picked up in Zandvoort, but because of the signs gathered by his SF-25. So much so that he flows into a promise addressed to the fans of the Cavallino.

“Honestly, I am very happy with my race and the progress I am seeing on the Ferrari – Hamilton told ‘Sky Sport’ at the end of the race day in Monza.”

Talking about the overall performance, I would say that the weekend of the Italian Grand Prix was very positive for us. I am getting to understand the single-seater more and more, race after race”.

In his first year at Ferrari after six seasons at McLaren and as many as 12 at Mercedes, Hamilton was also optimistic about the prospect of growing more and more in his level of knowledge, familiarity and performance with the Maranello car. “I am not able to say whether I will get to 100 percent confidence, but I think that already with next year&#8217s car I will be able to contribute more to the team&#8217s success. I am convinced that already here in Monza, without that penalty, I would have done much better. I will have that chance later, I am sure”, promised the Englishman.

Finally, the never-before experienced feeling of racing at Monza in a Ferrari suit, enveloped by the’affection of Italian fans. “The’energy of the fans was electrifying – admitted Hamilton -Already in previous years I had seen how it works here, but I had never received it firsthand. Driving the Ferrari at the Italian Grand Prix is a whole different story, being able to experience it represents an’emotion that I will carry with me forever. That&#8217s why I am grateful toward everyone who came here to charge us all weekend”.
