Martin Atanasov is a new player for MINT Vero Volley Monza. The Bulgarian setter, fresh from his experience with Galatasaray, brings with him a valuable international background, going on to complete the Monza roster for the 2025/2026 season.
Born in Sofia in 1996, Atanasov began his professional career with Dobrudzha Dobrich, a club with which he won the 2015/2016 Bulgarian championship, also winning the individual titles of MVP and best setter of the tournament. In 2016 he embarked on his first experience abroad, moving to Turkey with Tokat Belediye Plevnespor. He then continued his career in Germany, playing with VfB Friedrichshafen and later in France with Chaumont VB. In 2020 he returned to Turkey, this time with Ziraat Bankkart, with whom he dominated the Turkish championship and won the silver medal in CEV Challenge Cup. In the latter competition, he was awarded best setter for two consecutive editions, confirming his constant incisiveness and the’high level of his game. After a brief stint in Russia with Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, Atanasov returned to Turkey to play with Galatasaray in the 2024/2025 season. Also noteworthy is his call-up to the 2025 Men’s Volleyball World Cup, where Atanasov will wear the colors of the Bulgarian national team, taking the opportunity to shine on a big international stage.
At the end of the rainbow review, he will join his new teammates at MINT Vero Volley Monza, ready to officially begin his adventure in the Italian SuperLega championship.
“I am very happy to join an ambitious club like Vero Volley and to start this new adventure in such a competitive league as the Italian one – Atanasov–s first statements; I can’t wait to meet all my new teammates and to meet our fans at the arena.”
