On the evening of the presentation of the European Cups (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) on Sky Sport, Sportal.it exclusively interviewed Rachele Sangiuliano, who celebrated the feat of women’Italvolley women&#8217s team at the World Volleyball Championships in Bangkok.

“It has been so many years since ’the last time – began the former volleyball player -, finally we are no longer the last to have won a World Cup, we will remain the first, but in my opinion this team will still give us so many more satisfactions because they played an incredible World Cup. After the success at the Olympics in Paris, after the Volleyball Nations League, in which the gold was repeated, it was not easy to confirm again on the roof of the world, they did it: they were extraordinary”.

“A World Cup perhaps more satisfying than the Olympics? Those were exactly Velasco&#8217s words, perhaps the fact that there was this suffering in the semifinal and then in the final amplified then what was the’achievement of such an incredible result. I think there was perhaps also a difference from the Olympic Games because we have now become the team to beat and so all the other teams have studied us very well. And in fact both Brazil and Turkey, wall defense were set up very well, d’on the other hand they have two great technicians like Ze Roberto and Santarelli who knows ours maybe even better. I think that there really came out the strength of the collectivity of this group that leaned both on individual talent but made it their own of the various alternatives that Velasco has available, the extra strength that the others do not have because when maybe Paola Egonu came in in trouble, then Antropova enters and after there for the opponents became really difficult”.

Alessia Orro, MVP of the World Cup, and Myriam Sylla will now go to play in Turkey: “I think it is also good for both of them to have a different experience, an’experience abroad, in a very strong, competitive league that is definitely working hard to become even more so. It is clear that our championship especially after such a success loses two very important protagonists. Alessia has played a world championship as a true leader, the one who must then be the setter, a very deserved MVP award, and Sylla has once again confirmed herself as the soul of this team with her grit, her tenacity and I am really happy that the last point we put to her”.
