Marco Bezzecchi in Misano took a victory in the Sprint Race from homeboy. Inevitably so, considering the fact that the Aprilia centaur is from Rimini and that the full wording of the race is precisely Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini. The Romagnolo made the most of Marc Marquez’s fall, to whom, however, he had also contended for victory on the track. And, after the celebrations on the lap of honor and on the podium, complete with a reproduction of the Garpez in his hands, came the relaunch ahead of Sunday.

“I am very happy with this victory – told Bezzecchi to ‘Sky Sport’ – However, I am aware that the real work comes tomorrow. It will not be an easy race, so I want to fix everything. The Ducatis are strong, Marc Marquez is always there in front even when he seems to be struggling. Then there are also Alex and the two from Team VR46, you cannot take anything under consideration”. Inevitable, however, to note the’absence from the list of a Pecco Bagnaia who appeared in colossal difficulties also in Misano.

“We were able from the start to work well – continued Bezzecchi, talking about himself and the Aprilia men -We were able to put ourselves quite well, but it is all weekend that we have to make adjustments one after the other. There are still aspects in which we suffer a bit’for example, stability in the fast. But I am happy, also for the qualification that in addition to today also applies to tomorrow”.

The key to victory lies in the duel with Marc Marquez and the latter’s mistake. On the point, Bezzecchi spoke plainly: “I had made two little mistakes one after the other, and I got distracted. He passed me there, but I knew it was going to be a little bit’on the edge. So I calmed down and then started pushing again to pass him again. Unfortunately, he slipped, but I felt I had him close”.

True gem of Saturday in Misano, however, was the wooden leg that Bezzecchi took to the track and then to the podium. It was a reference to Garpez, the famous “work of art” around which the plot of the movie “Three Men and a Leg” revolved. “I have always been a huge fan of Aldo, John and James, and that movie in particular. I always quote them in the pits, make their jokes, and everybody always gets them. I also dedicated my helmet” to the trio,” revealed the Aprilia rider.
