Champions League, Juventus’ crazy debut: 4-4 with Borussia Dortmund

Juventus’ 4-4 draw against Borussia Dortmund in Turin in the first match of the Champions League 2025/2026 championship phase. After a white-net first half, the match went crazy in the second half with eight goals: the Bianconeri managed to come back from 2-4 to 4-4 in the dying minutes thanks primarily to an amazing Dusan Vlahovic. For the two teams one point on each side, the defenses to be totally revised.
In the first half Borussia Dortmund managed the ball more but the most dangerous chances came from Juventus, which came close to taking the lead several times through Thuram, Openda, Yildiz and David. Germans were almost never seen in attack from Di Gregorio’s sides.

In the second half, the game explodes with four goals in a quarter of an hour: at 53′ the yellow and red unblocked the game with Adeyemi on an assist from Guirassy, and at 56′ they went within a step of doubling, but Di Gregorio said no to Guirassy. Juventus equalized at 64′ with a splendid shot to the cross of the posts by Yildiz, but not even a minute passed and the guests went back ahead with Nmecha with a looping conclusion from the limit. At 67′ Turin crowd all on its feet for Dusan Vlahovic, who with a beautiful diagonal pass on an assist from Yildiz again balanced the result: 2-2.

Tudor’s team tried to react and at the’80’ hit the post with Yildiz, Kobel’s deflection being decisive, but at the’86’ the knockout blow seemed to arrive: Bensebaini scored on a penalty kick awarded for Kelly’s hand touch.
And instead at the expiration came the vehement reaction of Juventus, which came back and equalized with two goals in 94′ and 96′: Vlahovic found the 3-4 on Kalulu’s cross, Kelly scored the incredible 4-4 with a header on an assist from the Serbian right before the referee’s final whistle, sending the Turin crowd into a frenzy.
